Pieter Noens works as a counselor for sustainable development at the secretariat of the Environment and Nature Council of Flanders (Minaraad), an advisory body of the Flemish Government. The Council, which includes various partners from civil society, has a general competence for study and recommendation for everything related to the environment and nature. Pieter, in particular, follows the waste and materials policy in the light of the transition to a more sustainable and circular economy.
As a master in geography with an additional training in development cooperation, Pieter started his career at the Agency for Geographical Information Flanders (AGIV). There he coordinated the drafting of various decrees to support the geographical data-infrastructure of Flanders. As project leader of the Cable and Pipeline Information Portal (KLIP), Pieter helped to ensure that the parties involved in earthworks exchange cable and pipeline information in a better way.
