Mr Jaco Huisman, Sustainable Resources Directorate, DG JRC
Since March 2018, Mr. Jaco Huisman works as scientific officer on secondary raw materials at DG JRC Directorate D – Sustainable Resources. He has a background in chemical engineering and a PhD in Design Engineering and almost 20 years of experience in electronics recycling in particular. Before joining the European Commission, Jaco worked at United Nations University in Germany as a scientific advisor and the scientific coordinator of the FP7 “Countering WEEE Illegal Trade” (CWIT) project and the H2020 “Prospecting Secondary raw materials in the Urban Mine” (ProSUM) project. Between 2008 and 2017 he was additionally employed as an associate professor at Delft University of Technology and Leiden University. His research work includes roughly 100 publications in scientific journals, conference proceedings, technical reports, like the development of the first global E-waste Monitor in 2014, as well as multiple international policy briefs and impact assessments.
