From city blight to urban might: Strategies for circular redevelopment of brownfields.

Many European cities experience a paradox: While construction in urban areas continues unabated, vast amounts of buildings in Europe remain unused or underutilized. In this context, circular design strategies to repurpose brownfields provide new opportunities for cities. This workshop presents two concrete examples of brownfield redevelopment in medium-sized cities in Belgium. The goal of this workshop is twofold: we seek to present the preliminary findings of these cases, and we aim to confront these with practices in other countries in order to establish an European and international initiative following-up the project in Belgium.
